Teaching in this technology driven day in age can be difficult and trying when teaching elementary students. It is SO important for teacher and parents to teach the rules of the Internet to children at a young age. I know at our school we take this subject very seriously. The district filters out many of the dangerous websites, but classroom teachers also have to talk about inappropriate things that may come up while students are searching the web and what to do if this happens.
If you have a subscription to United Streaming http://search.discoveryeducation.com/, you can find several videos to show that are age appropriate.
Here are some other websites I found that could be useful for lesson plans, videos, or helping kids find information for themselves about cyber safety. It could be a fun project you do as a class at the beginning of the year.

I think it is important that we monitor and filter as much as we can as educators, but we also need to give the kids the tools to recongnize innapropriate sites for themselves and what to do when they encounter one.
