I have started making the video for my final project and I got my class to help me. They were so excited and really did a very good job. Making a video with them was very motivating and my students learned the information more than just by me telling them what to know. My students were each assigned a part and given a topic about Economics which is what the whole video is about. They were extremely engaged while they were deciding what to do. I found a video on teacher tube (www.teachertube.com) that was similar to what we were doing, which kind of got their minds around the project. Then I set them loose. As I walked around and conferenced with different groups, I thought to myself, "Why is this the first time I doing this?!?" The kids were so on target and learning! We have shot the first part of the video and will shoot the second half on Friday during the Economics fair.I am excited to share the edited movie with my kids and I know they are excited to see it. One of my students even wrote Dr. Smolka a note thanking her for assigning this project. How cute is that?
I have learned how powerful videos can be. I don't think this is something that you can overuse and it is amazing the wonderful learning that takes place during all the fun!
