#13 Moodle

Today I set up Moodle with my class. The students loved it! I am very excited to see it in action. For those of you who do not know, Moodle is similar to Blackboard. It is a communication forum where students can post work, comment to each other, and reply to open forums very similar to Blackboard.

Today the students set up their profiles and responded to their first forum. Technology proved to make some challenges along the way, but overall it went very smoothly and the students were very excited about using it. The next time we go to computer lab, the class will finish working on their response and will have to respond positively to one of their classmates responses. I am blown away that I am teaching second graders this and they are completely embracing it!

My future plans are to use Moodle with our penpals. My TIS and I are working together to figure out the best way to communicate with them. We are thinking that we will be using Skype and blogs as our means of communication. This is one of the most exciting technology adventures that I have been on as a teacher and I am excited to see where it leads us! I'll keep all of you posted.
