School or district Improvements

Our district recently hired a new Superintendent and he has wonderful plans for us in the next few years. He is pushing and wanting all teachers to move towards global learning. I think this is very exciting and will have a huge impact on our students, parents, and staff. There has been a new position created to help facilitate this movement.

On my campus, the move is to continue moving more and more instruction towards project-based learning and formative assessment. I know that it will be going on in my classroom next year and for the most part and good portion of others, but it has been a struggle to get everyone on board with this. My principal would like to see us all on the same page with this topic and I think we are slowly moving there.

Feedback is important to my principal. She likes to hear it from staff, parents, teachers, and see what other campus' are doing to improve their school. She also wants to see implementation going on in our classrooms.

Our campus has a CLC and a technology team that meets to talk about progress and to inform the staff of what needs to be happening in the classrooms. These teams help to communicate to the rest of the staff what the expectations are. We also meet on Wednesdays as a staff and often times will be trained in a new technology or talk about projects and cool things that are happening in our classrooms. Our CIT is very instrumental in planning these meetings and the materials we talk about.
