Assessment Practices

Type of standard testing:
I teach second grade and we do not do a lot of standard testing. The only two district test we give are a middle of the year math test and an end of the year math test. In my classroom I tend to do more informal assessing. I like using authenic assessments and informal throughout the day to see who is getting it and who is not. I do this by using activvotes, short quizzes, observations, and journals.
Benchmark practices
LIke I said before, in second grade we do not do a lot of benchmark testing but the MOY and EOY math test.
Use of portfolios
I use writing portfolios in my classroom and am going to add math and electronic portfolios next year. I love seeing the growth in my students and they love seeing it too. I think the electronic portfolios will really be cool for my students to see how much they learn in technology in the course of a year.
Use of project-based learning
I love using projects in my classroom. I think it is one of the most authentic and engaging types of assessment you can do with your students. My students also love doing them and really do the best learning while engaging in these projects.
Types of technology tools used for assessment
So this would be the area that my district is lacking in. We do not have electronic gradebooks, but I do use excel to keep my grades.
Technology standards currently assessed.
I try to use the technology standards throughout the year in the various technology projects we do. We also have a wonderful CIS that helps us to implement these standards.
