I know I have talked about the Daily 5 before with the class, but I am not sure I have posted it on my blog, so I would like to share what I do with my listening to reading station and what I would like to do in the future.
As of now I my listening station consists of a fluency center and tumblebooks.com. The fluency station is a kit that my grade level ordered which comes with a CD and reading cards. The students listen and practice reading a story and then eventually have a partner time them. Students also answer a few comprehension questions about the short passage and then check themselves. With tumble books, students are able to choose picture books and listen to them while the pages come to life. The students love to watch these stories and they can take quizzes over them as well.
In the future, I would like to add a center that would allow students to record themselves using a podcast and then listen to it. It will help them to be able to hear their fluency and then practice making it better. I hope to start this by the new year!
